WHAT WE DO

Case Work, Advocacy, Training & Strategic Partnership

Case work & Crisis response

CTI works and walks alongside families who are in need, assisting them directly as well referring them to the appropriate services. We have encountered cases of child neglect, domestic violence, food and medical emergencies, exploitation in the workplace, young children dropping out of school, stateless children, and young people entrenched in drugs and gangs. These cases brought to light the effects of the growing economic and social disparity of people trapped in poverty. Understanding their plight and root issues gives us the impetus to plan for future preventive and advocacy programs.  We continue journeying with these individuals and families.

Advocacy

Case Advocacy – on a case by case basis

We gather evidence and refer cases of unfair employment practices where the marginalised groups had sought

assistance. We also deal with medical, health and family related issues and connect the community members to enable them to access health care and if need be to be assisted by the different government departments and services.

Issue Advocacy – Child Protection

The rights of children are often overlooked as they often lack voices and representation. We seek different

avenues to speak on behalf of children to be able to establish their rights to security, education and to be free from violence of any kind. Adverse Childhood Experiences can impact children into their adulthood. Hence, early advocacy and intervention is key to raising resilient children.

Training

Platform for interns – (of Social Work, Counselling)

Counselling In order to have more people be involved in the helping profession in the future, we collaborate with colleges and universities to work with their students who need to have a place for internships for their practical training. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and we welcome more students to explore placement and internships with us. It is a win-win arrangement which enables us to provide additional services for the community and enables the students to have a safe space to practice and learn.

Facilitate training & consultation – with like-minded organisations or individuals

As much as our schedule allows, we will work with like-minded organisations or individuals who invites us to work with them for capacity building and consultation. We also participate in networks and work in collaboration with others for mutual learning and capacity building.

“The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
